This update from the Surfing Heritage Foundation, of which Legendary Surfers is affiliated:
Dear Friends of Surfing Heritage,
A quick update to keep you filled in on our progress:
We have launched our Founding Partners Campaign in an effort to raise a bare-bones operating budget of $200,000 per year for the next three years via recruiting 100 visionary surf history preservationists to donate $2000 a year for those three years. This level of support will allow us to establish primary curatorial and conservation programs in photography, oral history and memorabilia, develop display systems for our board collection, to promote awareness of our existence and goals, and do further fundraising towards achieving them.
Our new building at 110 Calle Iglesia in the Rancho San Clemente Business Park area, donated for our use by Spencer Croul, is shaping up to be quite special. Well appointed offices are being set up and the large, high ceiling open area that comprises 70% of the space will display the combined surfboard collections of Dick Metz and Spencer Croul, which will make SHF headquarters an exciting place to visit and will help visitors to understand our significant progress to date and the scope of our vision. Although we won’t officially be open to the public until early next year, if you’re planning to be in the area and would like to visit, please phone ahead to set up an appointment (please note: our collection of surfboards aren’t on display yet – we’re still working on possible ways to best utilize our showroom space – but we’re in and occupying the office portion of the facility). Please note our new phone number: 949.388.0313.
Also, if you haven’t done so already, please take a few minutes to check out the new section on our website entitled THANK YOUS. It’s accessible via the link located at the bottom of our EVENTS SECTION. We will be adding to our Email Subscriber’s List with a place for you to add your mailing address as well but until then, if you could email a reply back to us with this info, we’d appreciate it very much. The information will be confidential and used only to further update you via traditional mail methods when warranted.
From all of us at SHF: Dick Metz, Spencer Croul, Bill Blackburn, Bob Mardian, Bill Blackburn, Steve Pezman, and myself, Barry K Haun, best wishes for a coming year of great waves and uncrowded line-ups and thank you for your continued support.
