LARRY CAPUNE Paddles On

Larry Capune has passed on.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Capune family and
those who knew Larry, one of the greatest paddle boarders
of all time and certainly the greatest of the long distance
paddlers.

Here's the Goggle Search of all things Capune:

Google Search: "larry capune"

Larry was a credit to paddling. I worked a VW commercial with him a few years back at Newport Beach Pier and you know, he remembered me. Great guy Malcom.

I knew Larry Capune back in the 60's when I followed Larry and Merv Larson as they paddled down the coast from Carpinteria to Newport Beach. I think it was one of his first long distance paddles. I would meet up with them in my Red 1960 VW Bus on the beach at night to supply them with food and shelter until they reached their destination. I will always remember Larry, he had such a great outlook on life and was a friend that would always stand behind you. He owned a remarkable Woody Station Wagon and kept a record of how much money he would spend on dates in a little black book. I got such amusement from his sense of humor. I know that he will be missed by all that knew him. I will look forward to his memories living on when his memoirs are published someday.
