Continuing the video series of my month in the Thai countryside, July 2009/2552... This short video (shot with Hi-8 tape) features our 17 Rai of rice land across the road from Wat Nong Soong Pleui. My brother-in-law Sawt and his wife Nui are cameo'd, as well as Tah, Khun Paw (my wife's father), my wife Thip and family members and friends planting rice... Initially, the rice is seeded in large beds and then, when at a certain height, redistributed throughout the rest of the rice beds. This video shows this later stage.

My radio career -- such as it was -- spanned the years 1968-1992. I am fortunate in having recorded many of my airchecks during the later part of it. These are now digitized and posted as podcasts for about a month at a time.

I was never a great DJ, or even a good one, but this was probably more due to rarely having regular work -- was always filling in, part-timing, or trying to establish a gig that had a short life span. I had talent putting together flows of music in a coherent mix and developed my own style that I hope you enjoy -- so many years later -- "Listening with Malcolm..."

Senyo and Ling vacationed in Bali, Indonesia, in February 2006. Sen's grandfather on his mother's side, Rene Diets, is 100% Indonesian, having moved to the United States after a brief time in the Netherlands in the 1950's. Opa (Rene) and Oma live in Ojai, California, not far from Santa Barbara.
